Hananja
has worked at the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine since it opened in
1995. She has practiced herbal medicine extensively both in this
country and in Switzerland, working in private practice, in clinics and
in hospitals for over 20 years.
Born in Holland, Hananja was
immersed in herbal medicine from an early age as both her grandmother
and mother employed this traditional medicine to treat the family's
illnesses. The step to professional study followed early, and she
qualified first as a Naturopath in 1982 and then as a Medical Herbalist
in 1990. Hananja has lectured and written regularly on herbal medicine
and, as her professional standing has grown, she is in great demand as
a guest lecturer on her particular interests, gynaecology and
paediatrics. She teaches regularly at Middlesex University BSc Herbal
Medicine, and is involved in research projects related to women's
health and herbs.
Hananja's practice marries science with
tradition, using the knowledge gained from new research to enhance the
established traditions of herbal medicine, including the crucial
importance of nutrition to health. Her clinics attract patients, men,
women and children, with a wide range of complaints. She is also seeing
a large number of patients with gynaecological problems referred to her
by GPs and hospital consultants.
